An Accessible Easter

Hear the joy of Easter with Cadbury’s sound-emitting eggs.

For a lot of kids, as well as their grownups, the Easter egg hunt is the most magical part of the Easter holidays. But with more than half of Australians living with a long-term visual impairment, not everyone can join in the fun.

In consultation with members of the blind and vision-impaired community, we developed an accessible Easter egg. With a proximity sensor and wearable beacon - the egg was designed to guide egg hunters of all vision abilities.

CASE STUDY

Similar to a game of hot and cold, the egg emits an audio signal as the beacon wearer approaches it. Once the egg is found and picked up, a different sound is played to celebrate and conclude the hunt.

The campaign culminated in a heart-warming accessible Easter egg hunt event. With the eggs hidden around Melbourne’s Royal Park, it was up to a few eager hunters to find them - for most, it was their first time ever getting to experience the tradition. For everyone, it was a great day filled with Easter magic.
